What do you get when you combine the worlds two leading telecommunication manufactures? Hopefully you are thinking “The Best of Both Worlds” because that is exactly what I am seeing. VDS has been involved with the Avaya acquisition of Nortel from the very beginning. While many have been concerned about the logistics and even some of the politics of such a merger, we have focused our attention to what the combined product solutions and service offerings will be. What will the Avaya combined product roadmap look like? I have seen it; I must say I am impressed. As a customer I am comfortable that I can continue to invest in the technology that I saw value in from the original point of purchase. I can see a clear evolution path that will not only protect my investments but also provide me the confidence required to move forward with SIP and IP enabling my systems. Technology used in our systems has evolved over time and with the advent of SIP, we can now do things some of us had only imagined. SIP has become the enabler; a common language if you will that allows dissimilar systems to communicate with one another. It not only allows phone systems to communicate but also allows computer software to interact with those phone systems bringing about an endless possibility of applications that can make us more efficient and our jobs easier.
With the New AVAYA and the Product Roadmap you will see that your Nortel solutions will move forward in a seamless and software centric fashion. You will also see that your existing AVAYA solutions will move forward in a similar format. Like I said earlier, VDS has been deeply involved with this combined effort and has been adapting and evolving right along with the solution plan. We have already achieved AVAYA Gold Partner status and we are well on our way with both cross training of AVAYA legacy solutions as well as training in future SIP enabled solutions AVAYA has branded with the Aura name.
